Il quotidiano Politika scrive che è in arrivo un modello nuovo di zecca a marchio Fiat, che sarà prodotto nello stabilimento di Kragujevac in Serbia. Nome del progetto "601". Il giornale riporta che in Serbia sono già arrivati Alfredo Leggero, capo di tutti i direttori di produzione in Europa, e Silvia Vernetti, responsabile per l'azienda a Kragujevac per l'avvio del progetto. Secondo il giornale, è certo che con l'introduzione del modello ibrido "550-L" (versione ibrida della 500L, già pronta nell'impianto di questa fabbrica), è previsto anche un nuovo modello, che potrebbe andare sulle linee di produzione già nella seconda metà del 2019. Si tratta della Fiat progetto "601", un suv razionale da collocare tra la Panda Cross e la 500X. Il nuovo B-UV affiancherà la produzione della 500L per poi sostituirla quando questa arriverà a fine carriera. Del modello se ne parla da qualche tempo (Quattroruote compreso). Ora sembra che qualsosa si stia muovendo e presto vedremo i primi muletti. Annunciata durante la presentazione del piano industriale di FCA e confermata da Pietro Gorlier (ad di FCA EMEA), a Melfi stanno lavorando alla 500X ibrida. Stando al comunicato ufficiale che riguarda l'arrivo della Jeep Renegade PHEV, la 500X ibrida arriverà tra il 2019 e il 2020. |

I found Jack Ewing's Faster, Higher, Farther at my local library recently. A surprisingly interesting read, the book has as its focus the 2019-2015 diesel defeat device scandal, but contains considerable context of real value for those interested in general automotive history. The first several chapters characterize a VW corporate culture that cannot be understood without looking at the Porsche and Piech families relationship to the organization and to each other. Ewing argues that the nature of the firm (a product of its convoluted history and leadership) proved to be fertile ground for the deception that took place, a fraud that almost succeeded had it not been for a group of West Virginia University researchers charged with determining passenger car diesel emissions under real life driving conditions. I have already recommended this book to a colleague who teaches environmental and business ethics, and while it might not serve as a primary assigned text, it would be a good source for a review paper or term paper. If you want to understand the recent history of VW and associated car companies (and indeed the German auto industry), this is a book you need to pick up. |
